Travel health insurance

Members of the Techniker Krankenkasse and all insured family members residing in Germany can take out private travel health insurance with Envivas. An exception is the TravelXF plan: here, individuals who are not members of the TK or insured through a family plan can also be covered.

Your personal contribution for travel health insurance with Envivas depends on your age and the desired plan with its individual insurance benefits. Do you want to insure just yourself or multiple people? Individual insurance is available from as little as €11.90 per year. From €28.90 per year, the insurance covers multiple people. Long-term travellers can benefit from the worldwide coverage of the TravelXL plan from just €1.49 per day.

You can take out private travel health insurance with Envivas at any time before the trip starts, but not during the trip. Please note that the entire duration of the trip must be covered. 

Start of the trip: The start of the trip is considered the day of departure from Germany. This is also the start of the insurance. If you start your trip earlier than planned, please remember to adjust your insurance coverage accordingly. 

End of the trip: The end of the trip is considered the day of the planned return to Germany.

Our travel health insurance covers both private and business trips abroad within the agreed periods.

Our additional assistance is called "Assistance Services". These include, for example:

• Year-round 24-hour telephone service
• Information on medications abroad
• Listing of suitable doctors on-site
• Procurement and shipment of blood reserves
• Unlimited cost coverage guarantee for in-patient stays in hospitals and clinics
• Information about interpreters and doctors with foreign language skills

You can receive help around the clock all year round by calling the emergency number +49 89–559 872 10 .

For private medical treatment abroad, you will receive an invoice from your doctor. 

You pay this invoice and get the insured portion of the costs reimbursed by Envivas. 

Send us the receipts along with your insurance policy number to Envivas Krankenversicherung AG, Gereonswall 68, 50670 Cologne.

The invoices must include the following information: name and first name of the treated person, description of the illness, duration of treatment, date of treatment, and fees for the individual treatments.

In principle, the insurance contract under the TravelPlus plan (TravelXN and TravelXF) is for an indefinite period. However, you can cancel the insurance with Envivas at the end of each insurance year with a notice period of three months. The insurance year under the TravelPlus plan begins with the start of the contract and ends on the respective day before the following year. 

For example: If the contract starts on 15 July 2024, the first insurance year runs until the end of 14 July 2025. To end the insurance relationship, the cancellation must be received by Envivas no later than 14 April 2025. 

The TravelXL plan is concluded to the exact day for the duration of the one-time trip abroad. 

This also means that when this longer trip ends, your contract with Envivas ends automatically. The last insured day is the day of the planned return to Germany. A contract extension from abroad is possible before your insurance coverage expires and up to the maximum insurance period of 365 days. However, please note that in the case of an extension, coverage is only provided for events that occur after the date of the extension request. Details can be found in the contract documents.
